2016 is definitely the highlight of Zarina Diyas’ career, when she won the Elle Kazakhstan’s “Athlete of the Year” award. She also graced the cover of L’officiel magazine. She ranked world number 31 in 2015, then proceeded to bag the top spot at the WTA championship in the 2017 Japan Women’s Open. Born in 1993 in Kazakhstan, this Asian beauty started playing tennis at the age of six. Her wrist injury in 2016 took a toll on her game which pushed her out of the top 100 ranking. This did not stop her as she made a big comeback in 2019 by winning her eighth ITF singles title which brought her back into the top 100.
