The hottest and most successful among the three Bondarenko sisters playing professional tennis, Alona Bondarenko has won two WTA singles titles and has reached number 19 in the women’s rankings in 2008. She won the doubles title at the 2008 Australian Open together with her sister Kateryna, making them the only pair of sisters to win together since Venus and Serena Williams. The Ukrainian also placed fourth at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in 2010, her most successful outing in a Grand Slam tournament. She retired for five years, from 2011 to 2015, came back in 2016, and although she hasn’t formally retired, hasn’t competed since October 2017.
