Amanda Coetzer

At just 5’2’’, the diminutive Amanda Coetzer would beat so many highly ranked players that she was nicknamed “The Little Assassin.” Born in Hoopstad, South Africa, Amanda turned pro at the age of 16, winning nine WTA singles titles on her way to her career-best ranking of number three in 1997. The first South African woman to reach a Grand Slam semifinal (at the 1996 Australian Open), she was also one of the most consistent players in the tour, staying in the top 20 for a decade, before retiring in 2004. The pretty South African may not have won as much as her other contemporaries in terms of tournament winnings, but being married to Arnon Milchan, the billionaire Hollywood film producer, surely wouldn’t hurt.
