Monica Seles

Viraluck

The youngest ever French Open champion at age 16, Monica Seles is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. With her signature grunts and shrieks, as well as her two-handed forehand and backhand, she dominated the sport in the early 90s, winning eight Grand Slam titles before she even turned 20. She seemed unbeatable, until a deranged German fan stabbed her in the back during a game in 1993. Although the injury was minor, the effect on Seles was not, as she suffered from depression and an eating disorder in the aftermath, causing her to miss competition for two years. She came back in 1995, captured her ninth Grand Slam title at the 1996 Australian Open, and reclaimed her spot in the top ten but she never regained the deadly form that saw her claim 22 straight singles titles, along with a 55-1 win-loss record in Grand Slams.
