The 35th NFL Championship was a rematch of the previous year’s title game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. Known as the “Ice Bowl” due to the gameday temperature of -15°F and wind chill of 48 degrees below, on the third-and-goal at the Dallas 2 with 16 seconds left and Dallas leading 17-14, the Packers ran a “Brown right 31 wedge,” using right guard Jerry Kramer and center Ken Bowman. But given the icy conditions, which led to running back Donny Anderson slipping in a couple of previous plays, quarterback Bart Starr decided to keep the ball and drove across the goal line for a 20-17 lead, eventually winning the game.
