With San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Joe Montana sidelined by back injuries, Steve Young started the game against the Minnesota Vikings. The 49ers were trailing 21-17 with about two minutes left in the game, and at third-and-2, when Young raced to the middle, scrambled, wove, and zigzagged his way across Candlestick’s field through several Vikings defenders before diving across the goal line to complete a 49-yard touchdown run and give the 49ers a 24-21 win. The epic scramble was so mad Burger King relived it in its commercial in 2006.
