Super Bowl XLIV would mark the first Super Bowl appearance for the New Orleans Saints, as well as their first Super Bowl win. New Orleans had just wrestled the lead from the Colts following a touchdown by Jeremy Shockey and a two-point conversion by Lance Moore for a 24-17 lead. In the ensuing drive by the Colts, QB Peyton Manning’s pass intended for Reggie Wayne was intercepted by cornerback Tracy Porter, sprinting and pointing his way to the end zone unchallenged for a touchdown that stretched the Saints’ lead to 31-17, which would be the final score of the game.
