As crazy as it sounds, but one case of an Olympic winner that had no idea was a lady named Margaret Abbott. This also occurred during the Paris games in 1900 when women joining such contests was not yet considered socially acceptable. Abbott happened to be in Paris with her mom, studying art as most young women did during those days. And in a crazy turn of events, she decided to join what she believed was a golf tournament, and even winning against all the other female contestants.
