Rounding Up the Homeless

Japan Times

Stories from countries like Greece, Beijing and Seoul tell tales of exactly this, where thousands of homeless people were forced to leave the areas where they squatted to make room for the construction of housing and stadiums. Beijing supposedly rounded up around 1.5 million poor people and kept them out of sight during the games so that visitors wouldn’t be able to see them. But when the games were over, they were left in the streets again in order to fend for themselves without a care from the government.
