Sadly, hosting the games also means bankrupting the country. Aside from building stadium after stadium, all the housing areas, and taking the money meant for the actual citizens of that nation, it leaves it basically wiped out. And to make matters worse, most of these places end up abandoned, in ruins, without any actual way to make back the money that the country used in the first place. And to make matters even worse, it ends up crippling many economies and never making back any of the costs, as it happened in Greece, Japan and Vancouver.
