Don’t use taxis to get around town as not only are they hard to get, but cab drivers will almost surely charge you extra, especially during holidays.  You all know the difficulties associated with cabs such as a busted meter that leads to a fixed price upfront, aside from the tip that they will expect on top of it.  If you have to get a ride, opt for the ride-hailing services of Uber or Lyft so you can get fairer rates.  Although they also have price surges, at least you’ll know up front how much you need to pay and therefore make up your mind easily.  They’re also more reliable and convenient to get compared to waiting outside in the humid weather.
