Louisiana voodoo, also known as New Orleans voodoo, is said to be a set of spiritual folkways developed from the old traditions of the African diaspora in Louisiana.  It is also sometime called the Mississippi Valley voodoo.  Although voodoo is a popular belief in the area and gives its residents and entrepreneurs a way to earn a living, don’t think the souvenirs in the voodoo gift shops, also called hoodoo, are the real deal as they are just that, souvenirs.  New Orleans is full of these hoodoo shops which sell anything from supposed chicken feet, graveyard dust, pins and needles, to candles, and incense.
