The Swiss are known for being conservative, proper and neat.  If you are invited to a party or dinner, try to dress appropriately and arrive on time. Although, it is acceptable to be 15-minutes late.  Likewise, it is a norm to give flowers to the hostess or a small gift such as chocolates, books, wine and other pleasant treats.  Good manners are an important thing to have since it shows that you are courteous to other people. Having good social etiquette can help you develop better relationships and make you more enjoyable to be around.
