As a guest to a meal at a home, you are expected to eat well and as much as you would like. Do not be rude by asking the host if you could “doggy-bag” some of the meal back to your hotel or rented unit. It is totally unheard of, and will reflect badly on you and your nationality. It will appear to them that you are selfish and impolite. Really, it is not proper. If however you are offered, you can thank them and refuse politely, as what is expected. Don’t be the ill-mannered tourist. Besides, if they refuse your request for a “doggy-bag”, and most will, you will just put yourself in an embarrassing situation. Probably you won’t ever be invited again.
