Most people don’t mind being greeted in advance, for whatever reason the greeter has. And they don’t mind getting their presents in advance either. But believe it or not, Germans do mind. Their rules on time management go both ways, don’t be late, and don’t be too advanced. They pretty much like everything to be on time, including birthday greetings. Besides, there is a hanging superstition of bad luck should the greeting be in advance. So, don’t push your luck…always be on time in Germany.
