Don’t Talk About Politics

Another rule of thumb for any place you visit. Politics is a very tricky topic, especially if you are not an expert. You never also know for sure what the person that you are talking to believes in, likes and dislikes about politics. Discussions about politics really goes nowhere, and can end up as heated arguments. It is not a topic for small talk.Besides, Icelanders don’t like small talk. And since English is not their first language, always keep your conversation simple and direct. Try not to talk about something that would put the person at a defensive, or something they may take offensively. There are so many other things to talk about, use your imagination.
