Do Not Tip

A rule of thumb in Iceland…no tipping. Tipping your server is not encouraged. The price of the meals and services takes into account the wages of the staff. They don’t expect you to tip. However, should you feel the need to tip because you were happy with the service, you may do so. Just make sure you smile, so the server does not feel awkward, or embarrassed. Icelanders are conservative and are quite reserved. It may put them off to accept your tip. Of course if it is a generous tip, they surely won’t mind.
