Don’t Undermine The Importance Of Debit Cards

Credit cards are widely accepted in Iceland. However, it is always better to also have a gas debit card, as some places will not accept all credit cards (unless it is a chip and PIN card). You don’t really have to convert all your dollars to kronas or euros, a debit card and credit card will suffice. The only time you will need kronas is when at the flea market, or when using public buses. Even a hot dog stand will accept credit cards. There are no currency exchange shops in Iceland. The only place to get cash is in a bank. This is why hardly anybody uses cash. Iceland was on its way to being a cash-free society prior to the tourism industry taking off.
