Never Assume You Can Buy Alcohol Anyplace

While in Iceland, never think you can get a six-pack of beer at the supermarket. By law, only certain shops can sell alcohol. These are the Vinbudin shops, and have limited open hours. However, bars and restaurants will serve alcohol anytime. If you prefer to drink in your hotel room, without paying hotel prices, you best secure your alcohol at the airport duty-free shops. They have a wide variety of liquor and for much cheaper prices than the Vinbudin which has regulated taxes added. Just make sure you check how much alcohol you can bring into the country. The duty-free shops will have notices on amounts allowed per type of liquor.
