Don’t Expect To Get To Your Destination On Time

Austin’s traffic is almost as notoriously bad as the one locals and tourists suffer in Los Angeles. Sadly, there’s nothing you can do about it but sit patiently in your vehicle unless you’re willing to walk miles to your destination. You can avoid the rush hour though when the traffic gets horrendously worse, and the summer afternoon heat does not help.
Don’t base your schedule on the expected time of arrival you see on Google Maps or Waze. What you saw on the first minute will most likely not be the same after half an hour. Expect your ETA to adjust multiple times during your ride. To be on the safe side, always add 15 minutes to your expected arrival. If you’re headed to a scheduled tour or event, leave at least 15 minutes earlier.
