“The Fast and the Furious” franchise has produced a multitude of sequels, earned billions, and helped launch the careers of its original cast, together with Michelle Rodriguez. Although, there was chance that she wouldn’t have been part of it. This was because Rodriguez had an issue with her character’s original story arc.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Michelle Rodriguez revealed that when she took the role of Letty Ortiz for the first “the Fast and the Furious” movie that she almost quit because she did not agree with her character’s romantic arc. Letty Ortiz was supposed to be involved in a love triangle between Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker). When asked about the planned love triangle, she responded with “Is it realistic for a Latin girl who’s with the alpha-est of the alpha males to cheat on him with the cute boy?” She continued with, “I had to put my foot down. I basically cried and said, ‘I’m going to quit’ and, ‘Don’t sue me, please — I’m sorry, but I can’t do this in front of millions of people.” She even further explained, “My whole point in being an actress is that I thought I got to live a dream. And I don’t dream about being a slut! Do you?”
Ultimately, the script was changed into the story that we are familiar with.
