Emma Watson, at 9 years old, first took on the role of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She was a favorite in the franchise for her depiction of the strong, confident, and talented character. Watson nearly quit from the “Harry Potter” franchise several times. It was reported that she seriously considered leaving, around the time when her contract was about to be renewed for the fifth movie of the series.
The reason for this was that being in the Harry Potter films wasn’t going give her time to get a college education. A college education was something Watson was dedicated to pursue. Watson told Entertainment Weekly, “I hate to sound whiny, but it’s horrible… This has definitely been the most intense, grueling period of filmmaking I’ve ever done.” Fortunately, the studio revised the filming schedule to accommodate her educational goals.
As we all know, Emma Watson was able to portray the cherished character in all the remaining films. In addition, Watson was also able to earn a degree in English literature from Brown University.
