Jessica Alba as ‘Susan Storm’, in “Fantastic Four”

Jessica Alba took on the role of Sue Storm in “Fantastic Four” and its sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”. However, during the filming of the sequel, Jessica Alba almost quit. Any idea why?

According to Jessica Alba, it was because of what Tim Story, the director of “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”, complained about and demanded from her. In one scene where her character was supposed to be emotional, director Tim Story purportedly criticized Alba, he said, “It looks too real, it looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica.” According to Alba, “He was like, ‘Don’t do that thing with your face. Just make it flat. We can CGI the tears in.’” This upset her and she considered quitting not just that movie, but acting all together.

Alba did not quit the film or acting, she has just shifted most of her effort and time from being an actress to becoming an entrepreneur. She founded the Honest Company and is focusing to grow it into a billion-dollar business.
