Dorff began his career in the 1980s with small roles and guest performances in TV shows like Different Strokes, Roseanne, and Married…with Children. His claim to fame came in 1987, in the movie The Gate, a horror film about a boy and a friend who uncover a mysterious hole in his backyard which turns out to be the gateway to Hell. He also played a vampire-overlord in Blade, the main enemy of the character of Wesley Snipes. Currently 46 years old, he is trying to move up the ladder of show business. He seems to be doing fine with the third season of HBO’s True Detective, a crime-drama anthology series where he plays detective Roland West, alongside award winning actor, Mahershala Ali, who plays the lead role as detective Wayne Hays.
