Alex Trebek is a Canadian-American television personality, he was born on July 22, 1940 as George Alexander Trebek. “Jeopardy!” a syndicated game show that was revived in 1984, and since then Trebek has been the host of this show. As a matter of fact, he has a contract to host “Jeopardy!” until 2022. Trebek has also hosted several other game shows, such as “The Wizard of Odds”, “Double Dare”, “High Rollers”, “Battlestars”, “Classic Concentration”, and “To Tell the Truth”.
“Jeopardy!” is one of the longest running television game shows, and it is certainly one of the most difficult. In “Jeopardy!” contestants have to be knowledgeable in different kinds of trivia on a variety of subjects. Contestants would have chosen a topic, then Trebek would ask a question based on the chosen topic and corresponding chosen dollar value, and the contestants would have to answer quickly. One of the few moments a contestant could breathe a bit would be when the host, Alex Trebek, would walk over to the contestants and “get to know” them. Trebek has a habit to tease the contestants about their stories and in some cases, he can be blunt and a bit harsh.
For example: back in an October 2016 episode, contestant Susan Cole of Maryland, told Trebek that she was a fan of a music genre called “nerdcore hip-hop”. Which according to Susan is a music genre about “people who identify as ‘nerdy’ rapping about the things they love – video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners” Trebek then responded bluntly with “Losers, in other words?”
