Robert Leland Eubanks was born on January 8, 1938. He is popularly known as Bob Eubanks. He was an American disc jockey, game show host, and television personality. He is most known for hosting the “The Newlywed Game” intermittently since 1966. He had hosting stints on the show in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and even in the 2000s.
As the name “Newlywed game” suggests, it involved newlywed couples. The husbands and wives would then take turns answering questions while their spouses were backstage. After answering, the spouses would then take their turn and be asked the same questions, points would be earned if their responses matched their spouse’s answers. The couple with the most points would win. The questions on the show would range from the mundane to the saucy. Eubanks would playfully prod the contestants and would pretend to be shocked at their racy answers.
In 1989, Eubanks appeared in the documentary “Roger and Me”, about the downsizing of the GM factory in Michigan. Eubanks took the opportunity to deliver a joke out of nowhere that was anti-Semitic and homophobic at the same time. Then in 2012, according to The Advocate, Eubanks again made a homophobic joke one tape, he was hosting a stage parody of the “Newlywed Game”.
