Richard Karn Wilson was born on February 17, 1956. However, he dropped his last name when he found out that there was a well-known actor with the name Richard Wilson. Richard Karn is an American actor and former game show host. He is best known for his role on in the 90s sitcom “Home Improvement”, he also hosted the “Family Feud” from 2002 to 2006. His kind of humor and personality suited him well on his role as Al Borland on “Home Improvement”, it however did not serve him well him on “Family Feud”. Unlike most game show host who are energetic, humorous and could easily jive with the contestants and the audience, Karn was different to say the least.
His stint on “Family Feud” is best described by some comment on TheTopTens website. Some comments were kind enough, one commenter said “So awkward to watch him stumble through an entire show. Just makes you feel embarrassed for all the contestants who had to endure his witless banter for 22 minutes an episode”. While others were a bit harsh, the commenter Darrell bluntly said, “(He) had no business hosting Family Feud. (He) was never funny, and (he) had the personality of a sack of potatoes.” It is evident that hosting isn’t for everyone.
