Tiger Snake

This snake is found along the southern sector of Australia and Tasmania, usually along coastal regions, marshes, and wetlands. They grow to about 4 feet and come in a variety of colors, depending on their location (orange, yellow, olive, brown, black). Just like cobras, the tiger snake becomes aggressive when startled, and will flatten its body to raise its head above ground. Symptoms of their bite will include extreme pain, excessive sweating, numbness, body tingling, trouble breathing, and paralysis. There is antivenom but victims who don’t receive it right away usually do not survive. The mortality rate for untreated bites is at 60%. Another snake to avoid, especially if you live near its habitat.
