This is a pit-viper that is highly venomous. It is found predominantly in the desert regions of the soutwestern US and central Mexico, and is reputed to have the most toxic venom among rattlesnakes. It averages about 3 feet, with the largest ever caught to be about 4.5 feet. Its color varies from light green to brown, allowing it to blend with its surroundings. The venom is extremely deadly, but bites often have delayed symptoms. Bitten individuals often underestimate the severity of the bite. But within a few hours, they will experience blurry vision, have a hard time swallowing, and muscle weakness. Medical treatment is essential as respiratory failure will soon follow. Fortunately, the antivenom for this snake’s bites work really well.
