This should be a rule-of-thumb everywhere actually. Australia is a relatively clean place when it comes to litter and garbage. Recycling has been practiced for decades, and there are strict fines for anyone caught littering. There are several billboards with the catch phrase “Don’t be a tosser.” This is part of the government campaign to help keep the surroundings free from litter. Tourists are not exempted from this, so respect the ordinance. Help keep Australia clean, it seems the past few years have seen more irresponsible people, particularly at the beaches.
