Avoid Comparing Norway To The Rest Of Scandinavia

Here is another inaccurate stereotype—the Scandinavian kingdoms of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden are all one and the same. To consider them as one country is a completely incorrect statement. While there are many traditional and cultural similarities, comparable languages, and a shared history among these Nordic countries, including Finland, Iceland, and their associated territories, namely Greenland, the Åland Islands, and the Faroe Islands, there are also significant differences between these kingdoms. Norwegians, for one, have their own distinct identity, and they often keep to themselves. This, however, does not mean they are isolationists. While Norway has declined to join the state of the European Union (EU), the country has strong links with the EU, has implemented more EU directives than other member states, conforms to many of the union’s laws, and is part of the Schengen Agreement.
