First and foremost, Singapore is big on cleanliness, and officials believe that people who chew gum tend to dispose of it just about anywhere. Hence, it can be an inconvenience to those who step on it or to the cleaners who try to scrape it off street benches and tables. The only time you’re allowed to chew gum is if you have a doctor’s prescription for it, which would be highly unlikely. Attempt to break this law and you’ll definitely land in jail.
