Using Insect Growth Regulators
Source: https://sc01.alicdn.com
Insect growth regulators (IGR) are one of the best biological ways to end fruit fly infestation. IGR’s are chemically synthesized hormones that interfere with the normal life cycle of an insect. They prevent the insect from reaching maturity by impeding the molting process. Molting is when the insect grows a new exoskeleton under its existing one, and then it sheds the existing one to grow further. IGR’s make it impossible for fruit flies to reach the adult phase. This means that they will not be able to reproduce. They are particularly effective against fruit and drain flies. Spray this mixture near the possible breeding grounds of the flies. Trash cans, drains, floor mats, etc.
