Kurt Russell In Escape From New York, Standing Beside His Stunt Double

Before Tom Cruise started the trend of actors doing their own stunts, most actors had what they call a “stunt double.” This was basically another actor that looked like you, but would act out the more dangerous parts of the movies that required someone with particular skills. In the 1980 movie Escape From New York, Kurt Russel and his stunt double, Dick Warlock, could seriously pass off as twin brothers. And this wasn’t the only movie that Warlock doubled for Russel. In fact, he would be Russel’s double over the next 25 years, only retiring in the year 2002.
