The Jackson 5 With Their Parents at Home in 1971 for LIFE Magazine

There was no other family singing group as iconic as The Jackson 5. This photograph shows the family in their home in 1971, being photographed by LIFE magazine, looking a lot like a photo from The Brady Bunch. Although the photo shows them looking very happy, it was well-known that the Jackson patriarch, Joe, was a tyrant. The group was given the nickname the “Royal Family of Pop,” and they were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, but the only ones who truly had successful solo careers were Janet and Michael, who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
