Don’t Turn Down A Shot Of Aguardiente

The national spirit of Colombia is not meant to be refused. Aguardiente is a local alcohol drink that takes some getting used to. It may not appeal to all. But if you turn down an offer of a shot, it will be considered rude as well as a bad omen for the one who served it to you. Politely accept the glass, and if you really do not want to drink, or have alcohol allergies, just hold on to it and explain you will drink it a bit later. Then, when no one is looking, ditch it under the table. But never turn down a shot. Avoid offending the locals.
