Colombia is still very much a cash based economy. Most impoverished nations are. Not all places will accept credit cards, particularly away from the big cities. Even while some establishments will accept credit cards, they would rather be paid in cash. Always carry enough cash for the day…just don’t flash it around as you will attract pickpockets for sure. Keep the rest of your cash in the hotel safe. Better safe than sorry. Be aware that you have to beware.
