Some tourists think all of Colombia is hot and humid. While this is true along the coastal areas, Bogota is 2,600 meters above sea level. It sits atop a plateau high in the mountainous area. This means it can get real cold at night, so make sure you pack with that in mind, and not just flip-flops and shorts. Many who did not realize this have wasted their visit by staying indoors most of the time. Jeans and a sweater should do, unless there is a storm brewing. This is the time to stay indoors.
