Don’t Hike Wearing Flip-Flops

Yes, you’re no longer barefoot, but while flip-flops perfectly complement your casual wear, the no-heel-strap sandals are the worst kind of footwear to use when you’re hiking. Flip-flops can easily slip off your feet when you’re walking on slippery rock slabs, and you might end up with sharp rocks and pointy objects cutting the soles of your feet. Flip-flops are also not ideal for extensive walking when you explore the natural sites. The sandals do not offer any arch support, heel cushioning, or shock absorption that can lead to blisters, foot pain, tendinitis, or even a sprained ankle if you trip. You don’t want to head into the mountains in just your flip-flops then find yourself in need to contact the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (CMRS) because you have severely injured yourself. So, instead of wearing flimsy sandals, bring a sturdier pair of lightweight footwear that will protect your feet, offer excellent traction, and give you the support you need on a long day of hiking.
