Croatia is a safe country to visit, with low crime levels and extremely rare cases of violent crime. However, like most popular tourist destinations, petty theft and pickpocketing are common in this Balkan nation. So, don’t leave your things unattended on a beach because anyone, including fellow tourists, can steal your belongings and make a few bucks selling your purse, backpack, mobile phone, or anything you left on your beach chair or mat. Take the necessary precautions and keep your gadgets and wallet with you. In fact, if you’re just going to the beach, it’s best you only take essentials with you, such as sunscreen, a towel, a bottle of water, an ID, your sunglasses, a hat, and just enough cash to buy yourself some snacks.
