Don’t Walk Around The Town Of Hvar In Just Your Swimwear

Hvar is a Croatian island that is home to secluded beaches, rocky coves, and pine forests. It’s also called the “Island of Lavender” because of the lavender that grows all over the island, providing a picturesque view and an earthy floral scent. The vineyards of Hvar are also famous for producing red and white wine, and during peak seasons between June and September, Hvar becomes the town that never sleeps, with tourists enjoying the summer nightlife. However, make sure you’re appropriately clothed when you’re walking around the town. Walking around Hvar in just your swimwear, without a dress or a shirt and a pair of shorts or pants, regardless if you’re headed straight to your hotel from the beach, is considered an offense. You can get fined between €500 and €600. The town council has placed signs to inform and remind tourists about the fines for inappropriate dress. Similarly, you can get fined for excessive alcohol consumption in public.
