Greet or Say Goodbye at the Door or Over a Threshold

We mentioned earlier in this article that the Polish aren’t a superstitious bunch, and that they only believe in a few traditions that date to the ancient times. But there is one superstition (other than the one about flowers) that they follow, and that is to avoid greeting their guests at the door or over a threshold.
Locals believe that doing so brings bad vibes, so does bidding goodbye or shaking hands more than you should. Thus, when you meet a Pole, make sure that you don’t overdo your greeting, especially when bidding him or her goodbye.
