Get Scammed by Fake Cabs

Most cabs in Poland are licensed and regulated by the government, and you can be sure that these taxis are metered. However, unlicensed taxis also ply the streets of Poland under the radar, and you should be wary of them.
One of the most common tourist scams ran in different countries around the world involve bogus cabs, and Poland is no exception. Technically, riding in these fly-by-night taxis is illegal, but because of the ‘lower fare,” tourists are tempted to take them, not realizing the almost-certain risk of getting robbed or scammed.
Fake cab drivers are notorious for taking advantage of tourists, charging them exorbitant fares just to get them to cough up cash, and then harassing and threatening them with violence when they refuse to pay.
Always make sure that the taxi you’re getting into isn’t a fake one. Legit cabs always have both the operator’s name and telephone number displayed in clear view on top of the vehicle for everyone to see.
