Shoe Etiquette

There is a very good chance that you’ll get invited over for dinner at someone’s home, especially since the Poles are a very welcoming and hospitable bunch. If you do say yes, and you will, be sure to take off your shoes before entering the house you’re visiting.
Some Polish households might require you to remove your shoes before entering, so always ask the owner of the house if you should. Many of us aren’t used to this custom, and since we’re the ones visiting, we should do as the locals do.
Although not all homes ask you to leave your shoes at the door, it helps to ask first to avoid disrespecting your host and tracking dirt into his abode.
