Don’t Bring Cash

Sweden is a technologically advanced nation and a cashless society. Many of the establishments do not accept cash, and it is not uncommon to see a “Cash Not Accepted” sign at a store window or at a bar. A majority of Swedes use cards to pay for purchases, and digital payments using cards and apps are typical. So, when you get to the airport, you don’t have to rush to the bank to withdraw money or convert your bills to Swedish Krona. Instead, make sure to bring a bank card or credit card with you, or you can pay ahead when needed. Even Swedish children pay with debit cards. For places that do accept cash, don’t transact using Euros because this is not Sweden’s official currency.
