Never Compare Swedes With Norwegians Or Danes

While Swedes are very modest about their personal achievements, they are very proud of their nation, towns, and regions. When you visit Sweden, compliment the great things you observed about the country like the amazing landscapes and the tradition of Fika. Praise the Swedes’ efforts on recycling and how clean their cities are. Saying nice things about the people, their culture, and their country will be most appreciated. However, be genuine with your compliments; otherwise, they’ll consider you insincere and superficial. Also, avoid comparing Sweden with other Nordic countries such as Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland because doing so homogenizes them and demeans their cultural diversity. Don’t make negative comparisons between their regions as well because they might find this offensive.
