Like Austria, Ireland, Finland, and Malta, Sweden is a neutral and non-aligned country with regard to foreign and security policy. However, never assume that Swedes are unaware of or unconcerned with political concerns and complexities happening in other countries. Don’t be a patronizing know-it-all, assuming you know better. Swedes read a lot, and they take their education seriously from a very young age. Also, exercise discretion when talking about the arrival and settlement of refugees and migrants in Sweden. Avoid making comparisons with other countries’ policies and processes because these are taken under different context and scope. Sure, you can share interesting facts and procedures that you exercise in your own country, but don’t be inflexible and argumentative. Even if you only mean to educate, your behavior might come across as extremely arrogant.
