Shelley Alexis Duvall began her career in the 70s appearing in various films by Robert Altman, like Brewster McCloud, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Thieves Like Us, Nashville, and 3 Women, where she won the Cannes Award for Best Actress and a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress. She had a supporting role in Annie Hall before starring in Altman’s Popeye opposite Robin Williams, and as Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, opposite Jack Nicholson. She went on to star and produce in many different projects, most notable of which was Faerie Tale Theatre, a live-action anthology series based on popular fairy tales. In 2016, Duvall appeared on Dr. Phil, and she did not seem like she was mentally stable. Her appearance was disturbing, she mentioned that Robin Williams was still alive and a shapeshifter, and that her life was threatened by the Sheriff of Nottingham. A fundraising campaign was immediately initiated after the Dr. Phil Show guesting, spearheaded by Vivian Kubrick, in order to help Duval. Dr. Phil was accused of exploiting a mentally ill person.
