Jane Fonda

Popkore

Jane Fonda is an American actress, political activist, former fashion model, and household name. She is the recipient of numerous awards, like two Oscars, two BAFTAs, seven Golden Globes, an Emmy, the AFI Life Achievement Award, and the Honorary Golden Lion. She was a visible activist in the counterculture era during the Vietnam War. The photo of her taken while she was sitting on a Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun on a 1972 visit to Hanoi, earned her the nickname “Hanoi Jane”. Even though she was the daughter of actor Henry Fonda and the sister of director Peter Fonda, she was essentially blacklisted in Hollywood at this time, and only came back to our screens in the 80s when she launched the most successful VHS tape of all time: Jane Fonda’s Workout. Jane Fonda was arrested five times last year. This year marks the 60th anniversary of her first film role, in the romantic comedy Tall Story. Recently during the coronavirus quarantine, Fonda resurrected her 1980s workout, and campaigned for climate change awareness as well.
