This is a small herding breed that is alert, intelligent, active, fast, and can be vocal, which makes them great at herding. They love to play especially catch, with a frisbee or ball. Shelties love to learn new tricks and play with the kids. They are naturals for families and love to cuddle. They are very affectionate and loyal. Great watch dogs as well as they are wary of strangers and have a tendency to bark at them. But they are not aggressive. They respond well to commands if trained properly.
